Training Law Enforcement Agencies

As the frontline of defense against organized crimes, the role of law enforcement agencies is crucial. Organized crimes, such as human trafficking, are perpetually evolving and increasingly dangerous. This requires a response from equally organized and evolving law enforcement agencies. Therefore, a major part of JVI’s work is focused on building the capacity of these agencies. This is a critical component to JVI’s work to ensure human traffickers are arrested and victims are rescued

JVI provides technical assistance, including institutional and operational capacity building, to law enforcement and judicial bodies to strengthen the investigation and prosecution of organized crimes. In September 2022, JVI equipped 150 police and border security officials on human trafficking, Standard Operating Procedures, Child Labor, Juvenile Justice Act (2015), and POCSO Act (2012).

JVI and its network of Justice Hubs resource subject matter experts who deliver a range of training to law enforcement agencies. These experts provide a rich learning environment because they are able to train from first-hand experience in human trafficking cases. JVI customizes an interactive and creative approach to training and preparing participants to respond reactively and proactively to organized crime in their communities. In-depth discussion of case studies, evolving laws, and regulations are highly encouraged during these sessions, and our experts skillfully respond to participants’ concerns and questions.

JVI’s capacity building training includes: threat assessment, information gathering, coordination between different government bodies, effective surveillance, victim identification, prevention, border management, and inter-departmental collaboration. The objective of these trainings is demonstrated improvement across all listed operations.

The aim is to armor law enforcement agencies against human trafficking so that more victims can be identified and more perpetrators can be put away.
