The diligence of a Justice Hub partner resulted in the discovery of distressing information about three minor girls being held captive in a sex trafficking ring in West Bengal. Like many other victims, these girls had been invited to what they believed was a legitimate job opportunity but then held captive and forcefully exploited by sex traffickers.
Together with the local police and the Child Welfare Committee, the Justice Hub executed a rescue operation, leading to the freedom of all three minor girls as well as the arrest of one trafficker. Six perpetrators evaded capture, underscoring the efficacy of a well-organized criminal network with distinct roles within its ranks, spanning from recruiters to negotiators and even to managers overseeing the enterprise.
Now in freedom, the girls are beginning their process of restoration. Two of the girls are receiving specialized care in a shelter, while one has already been successfully restored to her family. The ongoing engagement of aftercare workers plays a crucial role in nurturing the girls’ emotional and psychological healing, paving the way for a brighter and more hopeful future.
The Justice Hub’s legal team has begun to pursue the case in the local court to shut down this trafficking operation and secure justice for the survivors.
