In May, a team from the Kathmandu Justice Hub conducted an investigation in the Thamel area of Kathmandu after learning that a massage spa was allegedly engaging in illegal activities, possibly involving minors. To gather more information, the team planned an undercover operation and found that the spa owners were forcing the minor girls who worked there to engage in sexual activities with customers. The spa was posing as a legitimate massage parlor but offering sex services to customers.

The Justice Hub team worked with the Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau to rescue the minor girls. Two girls who were rescued, Shama* and Sanjana*, revealed that the spa owner had lured them with false promises of a job. Shama was initially lured into the situation through a popular social media platform and later convinced her childhood friend Sanjana to join her. Both girls were forced to work from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM or later, serving multiple customers daily.

Upon rescue, both girls were placed in the care of a shelter home run by a Justice Hub partner and have filed a police report with the Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau.
