Prevention Training Saves Teen Girl In Nepal

JVI Nepal provides services to sex trafficking victims and those at risk in and around Kathmandu and other districts where there is a high prevalence of trafficking. In particular, JVI is working to stymie cross-border trafficking of women and children into Bihar and West Bengal, India for the primary purpose of commercial sexual exploitation.

Recently, a 15-year-old girl was intercepted before being trafficked into India by her father. The tip came to JVI from a pastor who attended a human trafficking awareness training held by JVI in 2018. JVI assisted the pastor in approaching the local police, who  quickly intervened before she was trafficked. The girl is now safely residing with the pastor and his family. Through a scholarship, she is attending school and is receiving counseling support from a JVI partner organization.
