Khushboo’s Story | Part 2: The Journey from Freedom to Restoration

Khushboo is getting ready for another day of training in a hotel management course on the road to her dream of sharing the gift of hospitality. Her journey to this moment has required courage and hard work.

For Khushboo, healing entails processing the painful tragedy of her parents’ betrayal: orphaned at birth and stolen from a hospital by her adoptive parents, then exposed to their involvement in trafficking, and ultimately subjected to forced prostitution by the parents she had expected to care for her. Khushboo’s rescue had given her freedom, but she felt alone and hopeless as she pursued counselling with Justice Hub aftercare staff.

With time, Khushboo began to heal and make brave choices shaped by her new identity as a cherished member of her new community in the aftercare shelter.

Today, Khushboo is 19 and has graduated from high school and her aftercare home. Having escaped the oppression of her abusers, she has stepped into an empowered life by pursuing her dream of offering the gift of hospitality to those visiting the new city she calls home.
