Intercepted at the Railway Station

At the railway station, the girls appeared disoriented and confused, indicating that something was wrong. Instead of being in school like other kids, they were here with an older male, avoiding eye contact with others.

This unsettling detail was noticed by JVI’s Justice Hub undercover investigators, who stopped the trio for questioning. When the man was unable identify basic details about the girls, the Railway Protection Force and a Justice Hub partner stepped in.

As the questioning began, it quickly became clear these girls were victims of trafficking. The male was arrested, and the authorities alerted the girls’ parents of the situation.

The man had tricked the older girl (age 15) over the internet into believing that he wanted to marry her. She sent him pictures of herself, and he used these pictures to blackmail her, threatening to release the images on pornographic websites if she did not meet him. Scared an unsure what to do, the girls agreed to meet with him at the railway station.

Had this meting not been interrupted, the trafficker would have stripped them of their freedom and innocence, trapping them in a nightmare of sex trafficking within days.

Thankfully, through effective undercover work with responsive Justice Hub partners, these girls were intercepted and safely returned to their families.

In 2022, JVI intercepted 1,062 victims at railway stations and from their trafficker’s grasp.
