Aftercare Worker’s Determination to Restore Sazia

In December 2023, 25-year-old Sazia* was rescued from a railway station by Justice Hub team members, with the help of the Patrolling Police. She had recently escaped from a brothel, where she had been forced to engage in sexual activities after being trafficked.

Sazia was eventually reunited with her family, but that was just the start of her difficult restoration journey. Although her family was counseled and sensitized to her condition, Sazia struggled to adjust to life at home due to her severe shock and trauma. The Justice Hub connected Sazia to a psychiatrist, who was able to prescribe medicine to calm her, but it was evident that she would need treatment at a trauma center.

During her initial days at the center, she was constantly crying and unreactive to the efforts of the trauma center workers. They consulted with the Justice Hub aftercare worker, who made sure that Sazia was receiving the medication she had been prescribed. The aftercare worker regularly contacted Sazia, and slowly, with the help of the medication, continuous therapy, and caring attention, Sazia’s condition improved. Often, she is even seen smiling and engaging in different activities at the center. Her great progress allowed her to stop her medication, and Sazia is now able to participate in skill development workshops that put her on the road to a hopeful future.
