Active Teamwork Results in Freedom

August 29, 2022 | JVI

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” This quote by Helen Keller captures the sheer determination and strategic thinking displayed by authorities in Bihar when they busted a sex trafficking trade. Three minor girls were forced to provide sex to multiple customers every day. A team from several local government agencies including police anti-human trafficking units and JVI Justice Hub partners worked together to rescue the girls and bring them to safety.

The location of the rescue was a particularly notorious area known for confining sex trafficking victims and supplying them to metro cities and other countries. The victims faced four years of brutal mental, physical and sexual exploitation at the hands of the brothel owners and customers. Freedom was made possible through the well-coordinated collaboration between the JVI network and local authorities.

After boldly providing statements to the police, the survivors are currently staying in a shelter home. The authorities, and JVI and its partners continue to pursue justice on their behalf and provide for their needs as they heal.

There are millions of children, women and men around the world with similar stories. Help us change their story one life at a time.
