Nazia,* age 25, was desperate to find a job to help her family make ends meet. She encountered Lalita,* who befriended Nazia and assured Nazia that she would help her get a job.
Lalita introduced Nazia to Santosh,* who offered her a job as a security guard. Santosh kept in constant communication with Nazia to gain her trust and make her believe he was interested in her.
One day, Nazia left her home to meet Santosh, telling her mother that she was going to attend a computer course. When she reached the designated meeting point, Santosh was not there but he called to inform her that he was busy with work and would send a friend to pick her up. The man took Nazia to a brothel, where she was stripped, video recorded, physically and sexually assaulted, and gang raped.
A month later, the police raided the brothel and Nazia managed to escape from the brothel and reach the railway station. At the railway station, people seeing her condition offered to help her, and one of them called her father.
Nazia’s father contacted the Gaya Justice Hub for help, and the Justice Hub team coordinated with the police to locate Nazia. She was taken to a trauma center for treatment, and the Justice Hub helped her father file an FIR (criminal complaint). The Justice Hub team has also made a house visit to Nazia’s family for counseling and to help them on their journey to healing.
