Six Women Rescued From Brothel

On May 30th, 2019 JVI collaborated with local police and one of our local partners, to rescue six females (four minors) from a brothel in a small town in East India. JVI has been collaborating with multiple partners in this high prevalence area for human trafficking to bring rescue and restoration to women and children.

On the day of the rescue, one of the minors stated she had been working in the red-light area for two years.  She has been paying the brothel owner half of all her money on a daily basis and using the other half to support the medical expenses of her younger brother who recently underwent a tumor operation. Upon rescue she communicated her desire to get out of the brothel and continue her studies.

The survivors were immediately placed in an aftercare home where they will receive rehabilitative assistance and opportunities for education. The two accused were arrested and JVI lawyers are assisting with the prosecution.
